VIDEO: Thugs warn Lagos residents against joining August 1 protest

A troubling video has surfaced that shows thugs threatening traders on Lagos Island ahead of nationwide protests against bad government that begin on August 1.

The video, which has gone viral, depicts the goons patrolling the market and threatening vendors with dire repercussions if they don’t comply with their demands.

One of the individuals in the video is heard warning, “Nigerians, you are not the only people hungry. Do not come out on August 1st to protest. Well, if you get the mind to come out, see what will happen to you.”

This occurs in the midst of multiple requests to postpone the planned protest from the government, religious authorities, and civil society organisations.
