According to Seva Canada executive director Liz Brant, “Eye care is one of the highest-impact public health investments that can be made in the global fight against poverty.” She emphasised the transformative impact of access to eye care services, stating, “Access to eye care services transforms lives by restoring sight and igniting opportunities for education, employment, and overall well-being.

The grant will enable Seva to enhance its locally managed programs in sub-Saharan Africa, expand its eye care delivery efforts in South Asia and South America, and bolster ongoing eye care capacity-building projects led by Seva’s global partners. Established in 1982, Seva has been working tirelessly to address the global burden of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.

This significant funding from the Honey & Barry Sherman Legacy Foundation will play a crucial role in supporting Seva’s efforts to increase access to eye care services, particularly in underserved communities.
