Voluntary and community groups gets £5.5m grant funding awards from HMRC

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has announced that TWELVE voluntary and community sector organizations have been given a share of £5.5 million to assist clients who require further support with their tax issues.

The prosperous establishments have an abundance of specialised expertise and experience to provide customized guidance on taxes and perks. The awards are administered by HMRC’s Voluntary and Community Sector Grant Funding Programme, which has supported partner organizations to offer free consultations and assistance to clients who:

  • May have trouble understanding their tax responsibilities.
  • May possibly have complicated requirements
  • Are not able to access HMRC services via digital means

The successful Voluntary and Community Sector organisations to get a share of the grant cash are:

  • Advice Direct Scotland
  • Advice NI
  • Citizens Advice Bureau – Isle of Wight, Gosport and Fareham
  • Citizens Advice East Lancashire
  • Citizens Advice South Tyneside
  • Good Things Foundation
  • Money Advice Trust
  • Refugee Migrant Centre
  • Royal National Institute of Blind People
  • Royal Association for Deaf People
  • Tax Aid
  • Tax Volunteers (Tax Help for Older People)

The £1.8 million-a-year, three-year financing package will begin in April 2024. Summer funding bids are received by organizations, and grants are awarded in accordance with stringent selection standards and due diligence procedures.

HMRC is committed to making sure everyone pays their taxes correctly, and this is the 12th batch of grant cash that the agency has given out. In addition to the work done by HMRC’s Extra Support Team, the organizations sponsored by the program are available to assist HMRC clients in need.
