The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, paid a visit to Katsina State on Sunday in response to the recent violence in Malumfashi Local Government Area, where he pledged to dismantle the network of bandits threatening the region.

During his operational tour, Oluyede held a meeting with the acting governor, Faruk Lawal, at the Government House. He assured that the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to eliminating banditry and addressing other security challenges facing Katsina and the North-West as a whole.

He described the attack on Mantau community in Malumfashi as “unfortunate and sad,” stressing that troops would intensify efforts to identify and neutralise bandit leaders behind the violence.

“The enemies of Katsina are within, and we will fish them out and eliminate them,” he said.

The Army Chief also emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation in intelligence gathering among community members, the state authorities, and security forces to accelerate progress in the ongoing anti-banditry campaign.

In his remarks, the acting governor called on the military to increase its presence in high-risk areas and deploy additional resources. He also encouraged citizens to assist security personnel by providing accurate and timely information.
