Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been urged by Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, to put aside his aspirations to become president and train a younger individual.
This assertion was made by Baba-Ahmed on Wednesday while he was a guest on the African Independent Television, or AIT, program “Focus Nigeria.”
He said Atiku should be a father figure and a democratic hero instead of trying to become president of Nigeria.
“He is a very prominent member of the PDP, a founding member of the PDP. Vice President for eight years. He competed three times, contested three times. He is a highly respected person.
“I think he should be a hero of democracy, but I didn’t think he should aspire to even lead this country. I think he should be a father figure.
“He should be involved in the building of an alternative to APC, but he should bring in new blood, new perspectives, new people, and say the future belongs to you. We will stand behind you,” Baba-Ahmed said.
