Mujidat Adeyemi, a seasoned actress in Nollywood and widely recognized as Olori Adeola, has shared insights into her religious upbringing and the difficulties she encountered following her marriage to a Christian.

The actress disclosed that, despite being born into a Muslim family, she ultimately married a Christian, which her parents did not support. See what transpired.

In an interview on Agbaletu TV’s official YouTube channel, Adeyemi stated that her parents were against the marriage because they did not want her to marry someone from a different religious background.

Additionally, she revealed that her husband was not at ease with her acting career and would frequently caution her against pursuing work in film whenever he learned that she was on a movie set.

The actress stated that several clerics later counseled her to leave her husband’s house for the sake of her peace of mind and longevity.

“At first, I didn’t believe what the clerics told me. But later, they warned that I might die if I remained in the marriage,” she said.

Adeyemi elaborated that, despite her Muslim family background, she started to practise Christianity after her marriage to her Christian husband. She mentioned that her guardian was a Christian as well.

The actress stated that she became emotional when she finally made the decision to leave the marriage, recalling the tough choice she had to make.

“I started crying because my parents were already unhappy with my decision to marry a Christian. I came from a Muslim family and married a Christian, but my parents did not support the marriage,” she said.

She mentioned that she ultimately departed from her husband’s house without notifying him, but she found it impossible to go back to her parents’ home afterward.
