A guy demanding President Bola Tinubu’s resignation by scaling a 33KV high-tension electrical pole has been taken into custody by agents of the Adamawa State Police Command.

The incident took place in Adamawa State’s Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.

The man had persisted at the top of the pole, saying that Tinubu had to step down before he would descend.

The incident occurred between the morning of Friday, September 27, and the evening of Saturday, September 28, ZINGTIE learned on Monday morning.

The unnamed man was rescued on Saturday night in Yola, the state capital, and taken into police custody, according to SP Suleiman Nguruje, the public relations officer for the state police.

“The Command is going to parade the man today (Monday) for attempting suicide,” Nguroje said, adding that attempting suicide is a criminal offence under Nigeria’s constitution.

“We are going to charge him to court,” Nguroje asserted.

He continued by saying that it is the responsibility of the police to safeguard people’s lives and property and that anyone attempting to harm him must be brought before the law.

According to additional information about the incident, the man ascended the 33KV high tension pole near the Yola-Jalingo expressway on Friday morning, the day of the Mayo Belwa market, and demanded that Tinubu quit.

He needed to be convinced to come down from the pole by some residents, according to the state Police Command. They managed to convince him to visit on Saturday evening.
