English Alhaji, an activist, has voiced his anger at the brazen conduct of kidnappers who, having received ransom payments for their captives—among them NYSC corps members Abba and Mariam—proceed to show off the cash on social media.

In an interview, Alhaji spoke about the aspect of the ordeal that made him most furious. Check Out The Clip.

He disclosed that the person who gathered the ransom had posted online images and videos of the money, thereby mocking the families and donors who had contributed to it.

Among those who organized crowdfunding donations, the act has ramped up sentiments of rage and powerlessness.

After negotiations lowered the initial demands, the ransom payments—₦10 million for Abba and ₦7 million for Mariam, amounting to a total of ₦17 million—were delivered.

The kidnappers did not let the victims go after the transfer of control. Instead, they added more conditions to the release, such as extra money and motorcycles.

Exhibiting the ransom money has exacerbated the situation, underscoring the brazen behavior of criminals in areas like Zamfara State.

Alhaji said: “The most upsetting part is that these people are coming out on social media to post the money we gave them. That alone makes me very angry. The person who received the money came online to show it. Honestly… I don’t even want to go into those details right now.”
