What those killed my father wanted – MKO Abiola’ son, Abdul

Abdul, a son of MKO Abiola, revealed on Saturday that his father’s demise was the result of both domestic and foreign influences.

Abdul also revealed that these forces had no problem with the late Sani Abacha taking office as president of Nigeria.

He clarified that some of the programmes Abiola intended to implement in Nigeria and throughout Africa if he were elected president were the reason behind his death.

During his appearance on Seun Okinbaloye’s podcast, Abdul revealed this.

According to Abdul: “A team of people worked against Abiola because he had announced that he would declare daily barrels of oil when he becomes president.

“There were a few forces against Abiola, and they were okay with Abacha becoming president. Remember Abiola went to America without a passport (remember the famous no passport); he was the only man allowed to enter the US without a passport.

“He went to meet Clinton and I’m sure he would have been looking at him like you want to bring democracy to Africa? Democracy is only good for them, but they would impose dictatorship across the world, yet they claim to be the democratic world. It’s a shame.”

The 1993 presidential election was widely seen as being won by MKO Abiola; however, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, IBB, the former military head of state, had it canceled.
