Why I donated clay pots, white fabrics to my constituents — Senator Hanga

Senator Rufai Hanga of Kano Central District has explained his donation of 10,500 yards of white cloth, known as “Likkadani” in Hausa, and 2,000 clay pots to the Muslim cemeteries in his constituency.

The senator, a New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) member and the 10th Senate’s deputy minority chief whip, clarified that the act was done to appease God and pursue His everlasting reward.

He claims those items were not a part of his constituency project, despite what his opponents and cynics have been spreading, claiming that they did so out of hate and malice.

According to ZINGTIE, the senator faced backlash last week after donating the goods to fifteen local government units inside his senatorial district.

Hanga, however, said during a press conference that the gesture was something he had been doing even before his election.

He insisted that it was a legacy he saw as a child and inherited from his family, and he hoped to uphold it for the rest of his life.

“We made the donation to the Kano State Committee for the Graveyards, headed by Dangoribar Kano and District head of Tarauni Local Government. We had found out that clay pots were lacking in most of our graveyards and decided to donate,” he was quoted as saying by Daily Trust.
