A fresh wave of political tension is sweeping through Izhi land as Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh has publicly urged Governor Francis Nwifuru to address what he described as “a disturbing climate of impunity” surrounding recent security incidents in the area.

Speaking at a community forum in Abakaliki, Ezeh said the unfolding crisis has created anxiety among residents, who are unsure where the lines of political influence and executive authority begin and end.

The controversy heightened earlier in the week when Hon. Chinedu Ogah reportedly intervened in the bail process of two suspects accused of threatening Dr. Ezeh’s life. According to Ezeh, Ogah allegedly claimed he acted based on the governor’s instructions, an assertion that has fueled speculation and divided community opinion.

Ezeh, however, was careful to separate the governor from the incident, stating that he does not believe Nwifuru orchestrated any intimidation against him. Still, he maintained that the governor’s silence is becoming more damaging than reassuring.

“Your silence is no longer golden. In time, the true hand will be revealed,” Ezeh declared, drawing murmurs across the hall.

“Leadership demands clarity. Ebonyi people need to hear you say where you stand,” he added.

He urged Governor Nwifuru to publicly clarify his position, distance himself from what he described as Ogah’s “political theatrics,” and reaffirm his commitment to justice and due process.

Community leaders and observers say the situation has quickly become a litmus test for the governor’s conflict-management style, especially in a region already sensitive to political maneuvering.

Some have called for calm, while others insist that transparency from the state government is the only path to defusing the tension.

For now, residents of Izhi land wait—watching both the political actors and the unfolding investigation, hoping that the governor’s eventual response will steady the waters rather than stir them further.
