Wike finally speaks on face-off with Fubara

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, has stated that he is focusing on his new role as the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Minister.

In addition, Wike stated that he gave it his all while leading Rivers State as governor.

The minister made the claim on Sunday in Port Harcourt at an event honouring the state’s recently deceased Commissioner of Works, George Kelly Alabo.

Remember that the minister and Governor Sim Fubara, who succeeded him, are at odds, causing a political crisis in Rivers State.

Speaking about the ongoing conflict between him and Fubara, Wike accused the governor of not conducting politics “according to the rule.”

Wike denied rumours that the disagreement sprang from his insistence that the state receives a substantial portion of the funding, saying, “There’s nothing I’m looking for in this state now.”

He asked the Rivers people to put the state first and avoid blackmail and misinformation.

He said, “We must allow our people the simple things. I’ve done my own part and I’m happy and I’m doing well in Abuja too.

“So, all of us should love this state but leave this propaganda, leave blackmail. I have my own budget as FCT minister.

“It’s like a governor of a state. I have my own commissioners. By January, I present my budget before the National Assembly. I will preside over the expenditure. All I’m saying is if you’re a politician, play according to the rules.”
