The prayers of the church and respectable religious organizations, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, are what keep the nation united.
This was said by Wike on Thursday during a courtesy visit by a team of the Methodist Church of Nigeria’s Abuja Archdiocese, which was led by the archbishop, Most Reverend Michael O. Akinwale.
“The role the church is playing is very important. So, the government will always partner with the church and other religious groups because the government cannot do it alone. Just like the President said the other day, the country requires prayers for peace; we require prayers for stability; we require prayers for the country to move forward,” he said.
“It takes the church and other religious groups that have been responsible and praying for this nation to remain together. And therefore, whatever we can do to support, we will always do that. And that is why, as FCTA, we take responsibility for maintaining the Christian Centre and the National Mosque. These are two national assets for which the FCTA is responsible for their maintenance because we all believe we serve one God.”
He also told his guests that he would welcome a visit from the Most Reverend Oliver Aba, the head of the Methodist Church in Nigeria and that the FCTA would be happy to assist the Methodist Church in any way.
