Wizkid regretted insulting me for dropping song amid Endsars protests – Reekado Banks

Nigerian artist Reekado Banks has shared that fellow singer Wizkid later expressed regret over the harsh words he used when Reekado announced a song release during the height of the EndSARS protests in October 2020.

At the time, tensions rose between the two artists after Reekado publicized the release of their joint track, Omo Olomo, amid nationwide protests. Wizkid reacted sharply, criticizing Reekado and calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal,” a reaction that surprised many fans.

Speaking on The Esther Show in a recent interview, Reekado Banks revisited the incident. He clarified that the decision to release the song during that sensitive period was made by his management team, even though he initially objected to the timing.

He revealed that he and Wizkid have since resolved the issue, noting that the Starboy frontman recently visited him and they settled their differences.

According to Reekado, “he was a little grateful about it.” He added that Wizkid acknowledged his reaction at the time was “a bit edgy.”

Banks said, “Recently he [Wizkid] came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it. He was like he shouldn’t have gone that route. He mentioned his behaviour towards Don Jazzy as well.

“He was like we are three people in the game [music industry] who recently lost our moms. And he feels sorry about that time, so, we are good now.”
