Women foundation commits to empowering girls with digital skills and Leadership in Africa

The Love for Change Women Foundation has launched an initiative to bridge the gender gap in digital literacy and leadership in Africa. Through its InnovatHER STEAM Bootcamp, the foundation has equipped many girls in underserved communities with digital skills needed to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

“We are not only equipping individuals, we are transforming families, uplifting communities, and shaping future leaders and problem-solvers,” said Modupeola Bello Olukoya, founder and executive director of the foundation. The bootcamp has seen over 200 registered participants, with 80 exceptional students invited to participate in an in-person Robotics and Innovation Workshop

The foundation aims to raise confident, emotionally intelligent young women who can lead and shape global spaces. “We want to raise confident, emotionally intelligent young women who can lead and shape global spaces,” Olukoya said. The workshop features new elements, including robotics, Python programming, and Fashion & Design, to enhance innovation, inclusion, and creativity.

Olukoya shared her inspiration for establishing the foundation, saying, “I had just lost my job during the COVID-19 pandemic and was navigating both career uncertainty and personal health challenges. Amid that crisis, I felt a clear and compelling call to focus on mentoring young women and championing the empowerment of underrepresented women and girls.”

The foundation is committed to promoting practical and inclusive learning, equipping participants with essential 21st-century skills. Global development leader and entrepreneur Oluwatoyin Banjo emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, saying, “Our female tech stars must rise boldly and lead with purpose.
