In Zamfara State, the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has denied claims that it intimidated party agents and voters during the Kaura Namoda South State Assembly by-election by using military men.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) accusations were seen by the APC as a last-ditch effort to hide what it called an impending defeat.
In an interview with journalists in Gusau, state APC spokesperson Yusuf Idris called the allegations “baseless and unfounded,” stating that security guards were merely there to keep the peace and stop thugs from abusing the polling process.
He claimed that the PDP was trying to undermine the process by damaging the reputation of security agencies.
He said that the party’s performance in the poll is a clear indicator of its popularity ahead of the general elections in 2027, and that the residents of Kaura Namoda South voted in huge numbers for its candidate.
