Zamfara: Opposition loses former gov candidate, others to APC

Mallam Muhammad Kabir-Sani, the African Action Congress’s (AAC) 2023 candidate for governor of Zamfara, has been welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) by Rep. Aminu Jaji (APC-Zamfara).

Along with other members of the old Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly candidates’ forum, Kabir-Sani also defected.

Through the Jajiyya APC political movement, which was led by Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka, thousands of their supporters also switched to the APC.

After meeting with Jaji at his home in Gusau, they publicly declared their move to the APC, bringing with them a number of people from the AAC and PDP.

Kabir-Sani gave an explanation for their choice, stating that they joined the APC under the Jaji Political Movement because they trusted Jaji’s abilities and his contributions to the advancement of Zamfara and his community.

In a similar vein, Ibrahim Labbo-Anka, speaking on behalf of the PDP State House of Assembly candidates’ forum, claimed that the APC was their choice because to its continued dominance in Zamfara.

“We had meaningful discussions with Hon. Aminu Jaji and reached a mutual understanding, leading to our decision to join APC. We are committed to staying and working for the progress of our state,” Labbo-Anka said.

Jaji, the head of the House Committee on Ecological Fund, praised the defectors’ choice and said it was good for the APC in Nigeria and Zamfara.

In order to increase the party’s visibility in the state, he promised them cooperation and equitable treatment. Additionally, he expressed confidence that the Jajiyya movement and the APC’s general strength would be further strengthened by the experience and influence of the defectors, especially their leaders.

“I encourage you all to remain with the APC and actively contribute your efforts toward the party’s progress,” Jaji stated.

The APC-Jajiyya movement’s State Chairman, Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka, has earlier characterized the organization as a powerful political force with robust infrastructure in each of the state’s 14 local government districts.

He encouraged the new members to stay committed to advancing harmony, peace, and stability within the APC and promised them complete and discrimination-free incorporation into the party’s operations.
