Zero Tolerance for Cultism: FUL Lokoja VC’s Warning to Freshers

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, has warned newly admitted students against participation in cultism and other vices during their stay in the university.

“My dear matriculating students, to be awarded a degree by this university, you must be found worthy in learning and in character. Academic excellence without good conduct is not sufficient.”

He urged them to shun social vices, saying, “This is why I urge you to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractices, sexual misbehaviour, drug abuse, and any form of antisocial behaviour that can mar or jeopardise your future.”

Akinwumi emphasised that the university has zero tolerance for laziness, academic misconduct, or deviant behaviours, stating, “Let me be clear, this university has zero tolerance for laziness, academic misconduct, or deviant behaviours.”

“Any student who fails to live up to the expectations of academic diligence and discipline will be shown the way out. I say this not to scare you, but to prepare your minds for the serious business ahead,” he said

The VC congratulated the students on their admission, saying, “You are indeed among the privileged few selected from a large pool of applicants who aspired to study in this esteemed institution.”

A total of 7,571 students have joined the university community this academic session.
