Justice Peter Umeadi, the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) 2023 presidential candidate, has resigned from the party and withdrew from all partisan politics in Nigeria.
In a letter to Mr. Onyekwelu Jideobi, the Chairman of APGA Ward 1, Nri, in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Umeadi expressed gratitude to the APGA for providing him with the chance to represent the party in the 2023 presidential election.
“I respectfully write to resign from my membership of Nri Ward 1, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. By the same token, I withdraw from all partisan politics in Nigeria,” the letter partly read.
Umeadi was the first legal scholar and jurist to run for president of a major Nigerian political party, according to ZINGTIE.
With a goal of social advancement and equal opportunity for all Nigerians, the justice based his campaign on the ideas of due process, separation of powers, and the rule of law.On March 20, 2019, Umeadi joined the APGA in Nri Ward 1, and on June 1, 2022, he secured the party’s presidential ticket.
