APC Convention 2026: Nigeria’s ruling party prepares to welcome the 33rd governor, aims for 100m Nigerians

The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that it would welcome its 33rd governor into the ruling party on Wednesday, prior to its National Convention.

This is part of the party’s aim to reach 100 million Nigerians with its Renewed Hope message.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the leaders of the Digital and Media subcommittees.

The committee tasked members with communicating effectively before, during, and after the National Convention.

Niger State Governor and Committee Chairman Mohammed Bago, while speaking at the Tuesday inaugural meeting in Abuja, called on members to demonstrate commitment and make all necessary sacrifices to reach the goal.

“Today we received the 32nd governor for the APC, and tomorrow we will receive the 33rd,” he added.

Also addressing the audience was Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and co-chairman of the committee. He assigned members the job of informing the world about the essence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are not just doing a convention. We are showcasing to the world that there is a party in Africa that believes in real democracy for the people,” he stated.

Ortega Ogra, who is the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Digital/New Media, stated that the committee will guarantee effective communication for most Nigerians and global audiences.

“We have a target to reach at the minimum 100 million Nigerians and, broadly speaking, 400 million people across the world, and we will do that with a combination of digital tools,” he said.

The convention is scheduled for March 26 and 27, 2026, in Abuja.
