Many Nigerians have expressed disappointment over the underwhelming performance of students in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This reaction followed the official release of the 2025 UTME results by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday.

In response, several individuals took to social media platforms to voice their concerns and frustrations regarding the outcome.

One user on X, identified as Oluwaseun, criticized the decline in student performance.

Oluwaseun posted a screenshot showing a student’s result highlighting a sharp drop from a score of 295 in the previous year to just 132 this year.

“Something is seriously wrong with the recently released UTME results.

“These scores do not reflect the abilities, efforts, or track record of our students.

“Egbaze Victoria scored 295 in last year’s UTME, and now she’s being told she scored 132? And many others,” he wrote on X Friday.

Another user known as Chukwuma Pius also shared a similar experience to Oluwaseun, calling for a review of this year’s JAMB results.

“Please, there is a serious technical error with JAMB this year. As a retired teacher, the result JAMB sent to my daughter this morning is not her result.

“This is devastating. Hard work rewarded this way? Compare her last year, 2025,” he wrote on X.

These reactions follow the disclosure by JAMB that approximately 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 in the recently concluded examination.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had described the outcome of this year’s UTME as alarming and emphasized the need for immediate reforms in the education system.
