Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to step up efforts in their probe of individuals suspected of breaching the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) website.

In a statement released on Saturday, the governor praised security agencies for apprehending the suspects linked to the cyberattack.

JAMB’s website encountered disruptions during the most recent examination cycle, which led to complications affecting the results of over 370,000 candidates, many of whom were from the southeastern region.

On Friday, the police and DSS announced they had taken 20 individuals into custody in connection with the breach of the 2025 computer-based testing process.

These individuals were alleged to have tampered with the examination board’s online platform in exchange for payments, causing widespread disorder and distress among candidates and their families.

Responding to the development through a statement delivered by Hon. Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Uzodimma, who also chairs the South East Governors’ Forum, welcomed the arrests as prompt and significant.

He emphasized that the apprehension of the culprits was critical not only for uncovering the full extent of the issue but also for easing national anxiety stemming from the disruption.

The governor urged both agencies to swiftly complete their investigations and ensure those responsible are prosecuted without delay.

Uzodimma described the incident as a serious national issue that needed urgent resolution. He also applauded the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for his transparency and dedication to maintaining the credibility of the examination body.
