According to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, getting President Bola Tinubu re-elected in 2027 must continue to be a common goal for APC members throughout the state.
At the APC’s quarterly stakeholders’ meeting, the governor made this known while speaking to party leaders. He urged members to unite as political activity progressively picks up speed in anticipation of upcoming elections.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized the value of party unity while warning against internal splits brought on by competing interests or personal goals.
“We must collectively work to deliver Ondo State for President Tinubu in 2027,” the governor said, adding that party cohesion is essential to achieving that goal.
Even when endorsing preferred candidates, he cautioned members against taking any steps that may jeopardize the party’s leadership or other members, pointing out that internal strife could hurt the APC’s electoral prospects.
The governor clarified that the purpose of the quarterly stakeholders’ meeting was to examine the state’s political and developmental advancements as well as to improve participation, input, and cooperation within the party.
Aiyedatiwa highlighted the accomplishments of his administration and stated that efforts had been stepped up in the health sector, with standby ambulances being supplied throughout local government regions and various facilities undergoing renovations.
In order to encourage balanced growth throughout the state, he said, active development projects were purposefully dispersed throughout all local councils.
The governor also revealed that Ondo State’s deep seaport license has been revalidated by the federal government, citing mistakes in the previous registration that did not accurately reflect the state’s identity.
Ade Adetimehin, the APC Chairman in Ondo State, stated earlier that the meeting gave party members a chance to speak with the governor personally. Atili Agabra, the party’s vice chairman, represented Adetimehin.
He praised the state government for hiring young people in a variety of ministries, departments, and agencies, calling the administration’s involvement with multiple party organs “unprecedented.”
Speaking as well, Isaac Kekemeke, the APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), reiterated that Aiyedatiwa is still the party’s leader in Ondo State.
Kekemeke stated that the governor is the main organizer for President Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the state, even though he acknowledged the existence of other powerful party officials.
He went on to say that the President has faith in APC governors across the country, characterizing Aiyedatiwa as a significant campaign figure for Tinubu in Ondo and a staunch supporter.
Kekemeke noted that opposition groups like the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Labour Party no longer represent serious threats in the state and that the majority of criticism of the government was coming from within the party.
He called on the governor to spearhead efforts to preserve unity ahead of upcoming elections and to continue accommodating different interests within the APC.
