According to Udeme Otong, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the South ought to be permitted to hold onto power for eight years, just as the North.
In an interview with reporters in Abuja on Thursday, Otong made the request.
He maintained that because President Bola Tinubu is succeeding, Nigerians and the governor of Akwa Ibom State support him.
Otong claimed that Tinubu should be given a further four years since he has made sure that state governors have adequate money to run their states.
Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, recently declared that Tinubu would hold onto office until 2031.
Nigerians are supporting the president to stay in office until 2031, according to Eno, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Eno alluded to leaving the PDP on Wednesday, stating that the opposition party is no longer able to carry him to his next destination.
Otong said, “All of us have said Tinubu is doing very well, and we are going to support Tinubu for his second term, and you know, this second term is just for the South.
“The Northerners have got their eight years, so the South must also have theirs. But Tinubu is doing very well.
“As the Speaker of Akwa Ibom state, there’s no time the governor has brought any loan facility request for us to approve for him.
“So that means the President is doing very well for making sure that the governors in each of the states have a lot of money to manage the state, and that’s why you see peace everywhere.”
