Former vice president Atiku Abubakar is the sole prominent opposition leader vying to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, according to Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

President Tinubu’s ardent fan Igbokwe made the assertion in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday.

He claimed that even if Atiku is the lone candidate opposing Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stifled his ambition.

He wrote, “The only person that is challenging PBAT in the 2027 Elections is Atiku Abubakar but unfortunately his former Boss & former President Olusegun Obasanjo has crushed and nailed his reputation in his Book: My Watch .It is what it is”.

The APC chieftain, however, seems to have undervalued Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate who received more than 6 million votes in the 2023 election.

Additionally, he ignored the Kwankwasiyya movement’s impact on voters in the north.
