Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa, a former Nigerian ambassador to Japan, has sworn that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will not be permitted to rig the general elections in 2027.

The former deputy speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly claimed in an interview with Vanguard on Friday that the APC was already planning to sway the outcome.

“Of course, APC is already planning to rig. But we are more vigilant this time. We are developing antidotes to rigging. We will not allow APC to rig elections in 2027,” Yisa declared.

He clarified that in order to safeguard the ballot and guarantee that the votes of the people are counted, opposition parties are developing fresh tactics.

These steps are intended to make it more difficult for anyone to stifle voters or change the outcome, he said.

Yisa emphasized the need for Nigerians to exercise caution before voting, pointing out that previous elections have demonstrated how ruling parties frequently abuse their position of authority.

“This will not be tolerated in 2027,” he said. Vigilance is crucial, the former ambassador added, stressing that all phases of the election process—from voter registration to result compilation—will be constantly watched.

The public’s growing political consciousness, he continued, will make rigging more challenging.

“The credibility of the 2027 elections will define Nigeria’s democracy,” Yisa stated, contending that free and fair elections are the sole means of ensuring peace and stability in the nation.

He expressed confidence that the polls will accurately represent the people’s actual decision and asked Nigerians to stand together and oppose any attempt to subvert their will.
