Despite gang-up rumors, Ajibola Bashiru, national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reiterated northern support for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection.

Speaking at a media roundtable hosted by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Zone B, in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, Bashiru made this revelation.

Talk of a northern plot against Tinubu’s 2027 bid was dismissed by Bashiru as “a lie from the pit of hell.”

According to him, northern cities like Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe are welcoming the president.

“It’s a lie from the pit of hell to claim the North is ganging up against Tinubu. I say this from a position of knowledge.

“I am not a flimsy person. I guide myself by Amilcar Cabral’s words: ‘Tell no lies, claim no easy victories’,” Bashiru added.

With apparent public celebrations in several states, including Kano, Katsina, and Gombe, the APC scribe emphasized that northern support for Tinubu remains solid.

Bashiru claims that “Omo Ologo,” a song by Dauda Kahutu Rarara for Tinubu, has become an anthem in many northern towns.

The newly established opposition coalition group was also derided by the APC National Secretary, who called it a concoction of self-serving individuals with no political significance.
