Uche Nwosu, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has maintained that since former President Muhammadu Buhari served eight years in government, the president cannot move back to the North in 2027.

In an interview with reporters in Abuja on Saturday, Nwosu made this claim.

The former chief of staff of the Imo State government believes that, like the North under Buhari, the southern region of the country should be given the opportunity to finish its eight-year term.

Nwosu said, “It is unfair and unjust to say power should return to the North in 2027.

“I am not in support of that. I am 100 per cent in support of the south to compete its eight years.

“We have President Bola Tinubu who is from the south. So why should we, at this point in time, start talking about power returning to the north?”

“Former President Buhari just finished his eight years. So, it is very justifiable that the south should finish its eight years too before we now talk about power shifting,” he added.

Speaking on the movement to transfer power to the South-East zone, Nwosu stated that the zone’s residents ought to let Tinubu complete his term before doing so.

He advised Nigerians to give the Tinubu administration more time, saying it was too soon to pass judgment.

According to him, Tinubu had been able to record successes in socio-economic and infrastructural development.
