Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called the All Progressives Congress (APC) a disease that has to be eliminated.

According to Lamido, the country’s survival is in danger due to the destructive power of the ruling party.

Lamido said on Arise News that the ruling party’s more than ten years in power are a sign of its failure and compared it to a fatal illness that has to be eradicated immediately.

“We must remove this cancer called APC, which we can call malaria, cancer level 4,” Lamido, who was Jigawa Governor for eight years, said.

“APC is our problem. We must remove that corruption, which has become a cancer in Nigeria. And it has to be excised out,” he added.

Lamido cautioned Nigerians that if the APC were to unintentionally regain power following the national elections in 2027, it would be catastrophic for the nation and its people.

He pointed out that despite being in control from 2014 to 2023, the ruling party has nothing to show for its time in office.

“It’s the same thing. If Tinubu is Buhari, they’re all APC. Never vote for them because it’s a failure of the party and party leaders of Nigeria,” Lamido said.

Lamido supported the concept of forming a political coalition before 2027, but he noted that the main goal should be to bring Nigerians together around important national concerns rather than individual individuals.

“It’s not about Tinubu. It’s about APC,” he stated.
