Pascal Okechukwu, a well-known figure in social circles and nightlife business (also known as “Cubana Chief Priest”), has officially revealed his intention to campaign for a House of Representatives position in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The celebrity businessman revealed this on his Instagram, stating he will run under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move he characterized as a carefully calculated and politically strategic decision.

He believes that aligning with the ruling party provides a more effective route to influencing federal power, especially in advocating for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Cubana Chief Priest justified his choice to stay with the APC, even though there are prevalent anti-APC feelings in some areas of the South-East, by arguing that being outside government diminishes one’s ability to bring about change at the highest level.

“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC.

“My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG renewed hope,” he said.

He also dealt with inquiries regarding his political stance during the 2023 elections, when he publicly endorsed Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

He clarified the situation by explaining that he became involved in the Obidient movement while serving as a Special Adviser to Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State.

He emphasized, though, that he has since shifted his political alignment back to the center decisively, pledging allegiance to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership.

“Last election, as special adviser to Governor hope, I worked for Peter obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he said.

Cubana Chief Priest characterized his ambition for 2027 as a deliberate shift from online influence to direct involvement in politics.

He asserted that the South-East needed younger, influential figures who were part of the system in order to effectively negotiate and promote the region’s interests at the federal level.
