In a recent interview with News Central, Renowned lawyer and justice advocate Dele Farotimi has made a startling claim regarding Nigeria’s political future, stating that President Bola Tinubu has already set the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
In an exclusive interview with NC’s Kayode Akintemi, Farotimi claimed, “Tinubu is not a man who leaves anything to chance. I warrant that the election result in 2027 is already written.”
During the conversation, Farotimi—who is well-known for his vocal criticism of Nigeria’s governance structures—explained the political shifts and power dynamics in the nation.
His comments coincide with mounting worries about Nigeria’s democratic situation, especially in light of claims of structural problems with the country’s judicial and electoral systems.
In this interview, Farotimi reiterated his declaration that “the judiciary has failed Nigeria,” contending that institutional shortcomings allow political manipulation.
The lawyer’s forecast is consistent with his larger criticism of Tinubu’s government, which he claims is using undemocratic methods to consolidate power. Farotimi was arrested in December 2024 as a result of the uproar surrounding his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
Activisit said that his arrest was an attempt to quell criticism, sparking rallies with the hashtag #FreeDeleFarotimiNow.
Particularly following a run of local election wins for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu’s political strategies have come under scrutiny.
Although neither Tinubu’s government nor the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have addressed these claims, it is claimed that Farotimi’s remarks have stoked debates on the legitimacy of upcoming elections.
