Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, promised his supporters that he will run for president in 2027.

Tunde Olusunle, one of Atiku’s spokespersons during the 2023 presidential race, provided the clarification.

Olusunle told ThisDay that Atiku would run again in 2027 because President Bola Tinubu’s administration needed to save Nigeria from the Intensive Care Unit.

Olusunle revealed that after reading claims that Atiku was not keen to become president, he made the explanation from his vacation home in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Ola Olateju, who spoke on behalf of Atiku at a gathering in Lagos over the weekend, stated that the former vice president was not in a desperate attempt to become president.

According to Olateju, Atiku intends to improve Nigeria.

Olusunle asserted that Atiku denied making the statement, emphasizing that it was not his.

“I did not issue that statement. When people stand in for me at events, we preview my thoughts on the instant subject and what my contribution or intervention will be, so we are on the same page.

“In this particular instance, there was no engagement with me to distill my thoughts. Prof. Olateju was not speaking for me.

“I will run in 2027. Nigeria needs to be decisively rescued from the intensive care unit it has been consigned. The degeneration in our country, the level of poverty and pain, the anguish, is unacceptable,” he said.
