According to INEC, the Independent National Electoral Commission, no date has been set for the restart of Continuous Voter Registration, CVR.
This was in addition to stating that it has not yet determined a date for the replacement and transfer of misplaced Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs.
According to a circulating source, the electoral umpire has set May 27 as the date for the restart of CVR and other associated services.
INEC said in a statement on Sunday that the information is untrue and that the public should ignore the “fake and anonymous statement.”
“In line with its tradition, the Commission will publicly announce the date for the resumption of the CVR at the appropriate time, the full details of which will also be shared via our official social media platforms,” the statement read.
Mahmood Yakubu, the head of INEC, suggested in 2024 that computer-generated voter accreditation slips be used throughout elections.
He said that the use of PVC as the only form of identity for voter accreditation on election day should be reconsidered in light of the implementation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.
