A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has stated that a political comeback by former President Goodluck Jonathan could pose a serious threat to President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in office.

Sani made this assertion on Friday during an interview on The Morning Show, a current affairs programme aired on Arise Television.

He suggested that President Tinubu appears to be strategically positioning himself to gain political influence in the South-South region ahead of the next election cycle.

“Tinubu is preparing these states (Edo, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers) for himself. The coming of Jonathan will upstage his efforts, as the South-South will rally strongly to support him. They simply cannot sacrifice their own son for any other consideration.

“They will come out en masse because this is their son. So they cannot sacrifice their own son for any other consideration.

“So, it will affect Tinubu more than it will affect any other candidate that is coming from the North, which is the battleground for Jonathan,” he said.
