The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the political challenges facing the presidential candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi.

Keyamo alleged that Atiku and Obi were engaged in a major ego contest and harbouring subdued bitterness towards each other.

He made the claim while reacting to the Independence Day messages delivered by Atiku and Obi after Tinubu’s address to Nigerians.

In his broadcast commemorating Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, Tinubu said the country had gone through its own Red Sea and expressed optimism that prosperity would follow.

However, Atiku criticised the President’s address, accusing Tinubu of making fake and “Yahoo Yahoo” promises to Nigerians.

Reacting in a post on X, Keyamo wrote: “After watching both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, presidential candidates of the ADC and NDC, respectively, scramble to make their own ‘broadcasts’ yesterday after the President’s speech, I came to one irrefutable conclusion:

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not the problem of these gentlemen. There is a huge ego battle between Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

“There is also a subdued bitterness between them and their supporters. Since they could not work together despite all entreaties, both men think they have a point to prove to each other, and all their present battles are to prove who the real opposition is to the ruling party and who is entitled to claim the second spot come January 16, 2027.”
