The national head of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has denied reaching a deal with Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to Kwankwaso, it is untrue to say that he ruled Nigeria for four years, Atiku for four, and Obi for eight.
The former governor of Kano State claimed in a BBC interview that he was not aware of such a plot.
However, he said that he had heard that Atiku’s supporters are gathering and conferring with local clerics and leaders in order to push forward this narrative.
According to Kwankwaso: “I did not appreciate this at all.
“They were told that I had agreed to a deal where Atiku would serve for four years, I would serve for another four years, and Peter Obi would serve for eight years.
“This is completely false; such an agreement never existed.
“Such lies and deceit are precisely why we left. Myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and others all left.
“Now they are coming back, asking us to help those who humiliated us to achieve their goals.”
