2027: Masari makes fresh statement on Atiku’s presidential ambition

Presidential Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, has urged Nigerians to disregard the political activities of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Masari described Atiku as a “joker” while reacting to the former vice president’s criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic policies and his decision to contest the 2027 presidential election.

He made the remarks on Saturday in Dutse, Jigawa State.

According to Masari, Atiku’s reported determination to return to power would not be enough to secure victory at the polls.

“Atiku is a joker, don’t waste your time listening to him. You know desperation will not give you what you want.

“Atiku is desperate and he will not become the president of this country, inshallah,” Masari said.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the ADC, had recently criticised some economic policies of the Tinubu administration, describing them as anti-masses measures.

Among the policies he faulted were the removal of fuel subsidy and the closure of Nigeria’s borders, which he argued had increased hardship for Nigerians.

The ADC has also pledged to reopen the country’s borders and restore the fuel subsidy if Atiku is elected president in the 2027 election.

The proposal has drawn criticism from the Presidency and some APC chieftains, who dismissed the promise as unrealistic and questioned its feasibility.
