Ahead of the general elections in 2027, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Nasarawa State has distanced itself from recent alliance negotiations and strongly cautioned its members against joining any opposition coalition.
Mallam Hamza Ibrahim, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, issued an official statement outlining the PDP’s dedication to internal unity and reconstruction, stating that it remains“stronger and more formidable than ever” in its mission to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The state chapter of the PDP vehemently distanced herself from the ADA/ADC/COALITION,” the statement read.
“We implore our respected stakeholders who have the interest of the generality of the party and state at heart, our dedicated members and by extension every citizen to disassociate themselves from attending any meetings in the name of coalition.”
Asserting that internal reorganization efforts are ongoing to settle disputes and rebuild trust among its grassroots followers, the party reaffirmed that its structure remains a credible platform for everyone.
“The UMBRELLA is big enough to accommodate all interests and to provide a credible platform for reformation and to provide alternative leadership for our dear state and the country at large,” Ibrahim added.
Notwithstanding the party’s stance, internal divisions seem to be showing. Deeper discord inside the PDP ranks is indicated by the hundreds of members, including prominent stakeholders, who have resigned and joined the coalition platform under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to sources.
However, the PDP has declared that it will have a larger State Executive Committee meeting in the near future.
According to the announcement, the conference will evaluate the party’s success, discuss lingering issues, and complete a strategic plan for its upcoming election-related actions.
