Shitu Adamu Evuti, a well-known young leader in the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Niger State Chapter, has officially defected from the PDP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Evuti gave the Chairman of the PDP in Evuti/Kpada Ward, Lapai Local Government Area, a letter of resignation dated July 18, 2025, stating that he was leaving the party primarily because to unresolved internal conflicts at the national level.
“I wish to formally tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” the letter read.
He expressed gratitude to his community, the residents of Lapai LGA, Evuti/Kpada Ward, and the whole Niger South Senatorial District for their steadfast faith in him over the years.
The former youth leader also thanked the PDP for giving him a platform and opportunity, particularly when he was chosen as the party’s candidate in the 2019 Niger State House of Assembly election and was later named State Youth Leader in 2023.
He went on to say that extensive conversations with important stakeholders, political allies, and constituents preceded his departure.
Evuti declared that he will keep serving the public under the ADC’s platform, which he characterized as a progressive substitute.
“To the PDP family, I humbly seek forgiveness from anyone I may have offended during my time in the party. Personally, I bear no grudges and have forgiven anyone who may have wronged me,” he added.
