Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former running mate of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has denied declaring for the presidency in 2027.
He clarified this in an interview with Channels Television on Friday.
This comes after reports surfaced two days ago that Baba-Ahmed had declared his candidacy for president in 2027.
In response, Baba-Ahmed stated that he did not declare for the president, but rather reiterated his membership in the Labour Party.
“I never declared to contest for presidency; I simply reiterated my membership in the Labour Party. Even though there could be a possibility for that happening.
“I clearly stated that one will have to wait for the Independent National Electoral Commission timetable and the party to make the call,” he said.
