Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, has urged young Nigerians to register and cast ballots in the next general elections of 2027, emphasizing that God will not descend to choose the nation’s leaders.
In a message published on Sunday on his official X handle, Obi made this appeal, stating that it is the duty of the younger generation of Nigerians to shape the nation’s destiny.
He underlined that the most effective defense against poor leadership is the voter’s card.
“Yesterday, I joined thousands of young people at the National Youth Rally marking the 40th Anniversary of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria, CYON, hosted by the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka,” he wrote.
The politician went on to say that young people are responsible for building the nation.
He added that in order to create a better Nigeria, the people must elect leaders who possess these qualities: competence, capability, compassion, and character.
