2027: Scores of PDP members defect to APC in Oyo [PHOTOS]

The All Progressives Congress (APC), which is in power in Oyo State, has gained hundreds of PDP members.

Prior to the national elections in 2027, our journalist learned that PDP members had joined the APC.

The former PDP members from the local government areas of Egbeda and Ona Ara declared their defection during an APC meeting at Elekuro High School in Olorunsogo, Ibadan.

According to our correspondent, Alhaji Agbedo, Yinka Folarin, Shina Adeagbo, Bola Fawole, and Kazeem Akinola, an APC candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal seat, attended the ceremony on Saturday.

On behalf of other party members, Akinola greeted the defectors to the APC.

He says that Ona Ara should now designate a representative for the federal constituency.

He said, “I am excited to be with you today, you know where we are coming from, where we are and where we are going. On this project, I am happy with the turnout of the meeting. You know me as a party man over the years.

“You rally round me over the years, I appreciate it and I don’t take it for granted. It’s time for Ona-Ara LGA to produce the House of Representatives, Egbeda LGA has done it for 8 years uninterruptedly.”

APC Chairman in Ona Ara LGA, Alhaji Prince Abdulwasiu Kolawole Ogundipe, commended God for keeping all party members safe and secure.

He described APC as a progressive party that prioritizes peace.

Ogundipe urged everyone in the party to foster love and harmony among themselves.

He restated that President Bola Tinubu has received the support of the state party for a second term.

Biliaminu Ogundele, a former chairman of the Ona-Ara Local Government, urged composure.

Ogundele emphasized that without the backing of others, no internal faction can win the election on its own.
