The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally approached President Bola Tinubu, requesting permission to use the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council.

In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC proposed November 11, 2026, for the ceremony ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The letter, titled “Request for Approval to Hold the Inauguration of the AAC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa and for Logistical Support,” also requested provisions for food, drinks and other logistical needs of those attending the event.

The party’s presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, made the letter public on Wednesday.

The AAC explained that its request was founded on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment for all political parties.

It argued that it deserved similar consideration to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which reportedly held the inauguration of its own campaign council at the State House Conference Centre on October 14.

“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the letter stated.

The opposition party also requested clarification from the Presidency on the applicable procedures and requirements for obtaining approval.

As of the time this report was filed, the Presidency had yet to respond to the request.
