Dominic Alancha, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged President Bola Tinubu to steer clear of adopting a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

Alancha made this appeal on Wednesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television.

He argued that repeating such a ticket would go against the spirit of national balance envisioned by Nigeria’s founding leaders and could deepen societal divisions.

According to him, the Muslim-Muslim arrangement represents “a betrayal of the national covenant engendered by their founding fathers to avoid polarization.”

“We are not saying there is anything wrong with Shettima, but what we are saying is that there is everything wrong with the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“In the 2023 general election, there were a lot of Christians that were disenfranchised as a result of that singular Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“This is not a distraction, like I said. We are only advising Mr. President to pick who his running mate is in 2027. We are saying, when that time comes, do not consider Muslim-Muslim ticket,” he said.
