Valentine Ozigbo, a former LP presidential candidate and ally of Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has stated that he does not believe the LP has a future.

This was revealed by Ozigbo, who also mentioned that Obi will not be running for president on the LP platform.

In 2022, the former Obidient Movement member left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Liberal Party (LP) in support of Obi’s quest for presidency.

Ozigbo cited his “unwavering commitment” to the state’s larger vision as the reason for his February 19 departure from LP to the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Ozigbo stated in his letter of resignation that he told Obi of his choice as a “mark of deep respect” for his leadership.

But when the former gubernatorial candidate appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, he stated: “I don’t see a future for the Labour Party. I’m happy to live with that assertion, and I would like to be proven wrong.

“Peter Obi, that we are talking about, also left ANPP for APGA, then PDP, and later Labour Party, and I can almost guarantee that if he wishes to run for election, it’s not going to be under Labour Party.

“I can almost guarantee that. I am not his spokesperson.

“Maybe I am wrong, but I am a witness to a lot of discussions around coalitions, and I can tell you my own optimism about that.”
