According to former Information Minister Jerry Gana, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is trying to reintroduce Peter Obi, a former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, to the main opposition party.
On Friday, Gana, a founding member of the PDP, informed AIT that efforts are on to reinstate Obi.
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, is trying to attract Obi and other party members, according to the party’s former presidential candidate.
Prior to the 2023 elections, Obi departed from the PDP on May 25, 2022, and on May 27, 2022, he joined the Labour Party.
He joined the LP as its standard-bearer and ran for president in 2023.
Gana in response to a query about whether the party has contacted Obi about a return said, “Why not?”
He added, “He [Obi] is not the only person. We are also moving to other persons. But I don’t want to announce until we really get there.
“I have a very solid platform. I can now go back to these people and say the platform you were complaining about is now set, proper, and ready to move. I know many of them would respond.”
