A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, has said Nigerians have shifted attention away from the debate over President Bola Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, insisting that economic survival has become their primary concern.

Okechukwu made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV’s Sunday Politics programme, where he said the rising cost of living and worsening economic hardship now dominate public discourse.

“Nigerians are no longer talking about the Muslim-Muslim ticket; they are now talking about stomach infrastructure,” he said.

According to him, the policies introduced by President Tinubu over the past three years show that the administration is not influenced by religious considerations.

“Tinubu has shown in the last three years that he is not making policies based on the Muslim-Muslim ticket or because he wants to favour Muslims,” Osita added.

He also called on President Tinubu to assign more responsibilities to Vice President Kashim Shettima, especially in the areas of economic management and national security.

Referring to a recent report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which warned that rising prices of essential goods could deepen poverty and food insecurity despite improvements in macroeconomic stability, Okechukwu argued that Shettima could play a more active role in tackling some of the country’s economic challenges.
