In the Gagarawa local government area of Jigawa State, 216 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At a “Citizens and Government Engagement Forum” at the local government headquarters, the defectors were formally welcomed into the APC.
Malam Umar Namadi, the state governor, and other high-ranking government representatives attended the ceremony.
Governor Namadi noted during the event that the forum was set up to provide the public a chance to learn about the government’s intentions and accomplishments over the last two years.
Additionally, it enables citizens to express their concerns and demands for timely government action.
Governor Namadi emphasized that all Jigawa residents, irrespective of party affiliation, are welcome to participate in the forum and that his administration is always willing to hear sincere grievances and helpful critiques.
He reaffirmed his government’s dedication to carrying out initiatives and plans to enhance people’s quality of life and guarantee a wonderful and successful Jigawa State.
Six commissioners from different ministries gave a list of the initiatives that Governor Namadi’s government has carried out in the region during the event.
Road building, empowerment initiatives, and the completion of medical facilities, such the Gagarawa General Hospital, which is now prepared for commissioning, were among them.
Additionally, among other things, the area implemented welfare programs, women’s empowerment, school building and remodeling, scholarships, and employment possibilities.
Malam Habibu Dangodo gave the Jigawa State APC chairman, Hon. Aminu Sani Gumel, the defectors’ membership list while speaking on their behalf.
According to Dangodo, Governor Namadi’s ambitious and purposeful leadership gave them new hope for a better life full of opportunity and prosperity, which is why they decided to join the APC.
“Governor Namadi’s leadership has convinced us that the APC truly means well for Gagarawa local government and Jigawa State. We felt it necessary to join hands in building a modern, prosperous, and greater Jigawa,” Dangodo stated.
