At least 34 persons, including women and children, have been murdered by an Israeli attack on a five-story residential building in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, according to local civil defense sources.

The building was destroyed by the bombardment and was reduced to a heap of debris. Seven more people have been hurt, and it’s thought that dozens of people are still buried beneath the rubble.

Mahmud Bassal, a spokesman for civil defense, claimed that ongoing Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire in the region were making it harder to save more lives.

One local whose family resided in the demolished building told reporters, “The whole area was shaking,” expressing the shock and anxiety brought on by the attack.

In order to disrupt Hamas activity and stop the group from regrouping, the Israeli military acknowledged that it had carried out strikes in northern Gaza, including Beit Lahia, targeting what it claimed as militant targets.

According to Israel, the goal of its attack is to destroy “terrorist targets.”

A drone attack in the southern city of Rafah killed five people, and three other attacks on refugee camps in central Gaza killed 15 more in addition to the Beit Lahia hit.

In the meantime, the humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza keeps getting worse.About 130,000 people have been displaced by Israel’s ground operations over the last five weeks, and many of them have been unable to leave the increasingly hazardous regions.

At least 75,000 people in Gaza are still stranded in places like Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun, according to UN estimates, and are severely lacking in food, water, and medical supplies.

Many Gazans have voiced their unhappiness at the devastation of their homes and the challenges of escaping under the continued conflict.

BBC News was told by a woman in Beit Lahia, “What have we done to you people? What have we done to you? We’re remaining at home. Why are you forcing us to leave?

The extent of the devastation and displacement in Gaza has been denounced by the UN and human rights organizations.

According to a new Human Rights Watch assessment, Israel committed crimes against humanity and war crimes by purposefully causing mass displacement.

According to the Hamas-run health ministry, more than 43,700 Palestinians have died in Gaza since Israel began its offensive in response to Hamas’ historic attack on southern Israel on October 7.

The Palestinian civilian population has suffered greatly as a result of Israel’s operation in Gaza, which aims to destroy Hamas after their strike in southern Israel killed over 1,200 people.

Nearly 1.9 million people, or 90% of Gaza’s population, have been uprooted in the last year, according to the UN, and 79% of the region is currently under evacuation orders from Israel.
