In a heartwarming display of commitment to the well-being of his constituents, Hon. Abdullahi Ahmed, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Interior, has successfully drilled 71 solar-powered boreholes in communities across Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency in Katsina State. This initiative aims to provide clean and sustainable water supply to the residents, addressing water scarcity and improving water management for both domestic and agricultural needs.

According to his Special Assistant on Media, Sardauna Francis, the lawmaker’s efforts are a testament to his dedication to the people he represents. “These 71 solar-powered boreholes are not just about water supply; they are about transforming lives because access to clean water is fundamental to health, economic growth and social development,” Hon. Abdullahi Ahmed said.

The project involved geophysical and hydrogeological surveys to determine the best drilling methods for each community. Each borehole underwent capacity tests and water quality tests to ensure suitability for human consumption. Solar panels were installed to power the submersible pumps, increasing the project’s environmental sustainability and durability

The lawmaker urged the residents to take ownership of the water projects and protect them from vandalism. “With these projects, I am ensuring that citizens of Musawa, Matazu and the surrounding communities and villages no longer suffer from inadequate water supply,” he added.

This initiative is a shining example of Hon. Abdullahi Ahmed’s commitment to improving the lives of his constituents and promoting sustainable development in his constituency.
